How will your interactive learning resource specifically ensure that the needs of all learners can be met?
In order to keep our interactive learning resource accessible to as many learners as possible, my group was conscious of what content we were using it and how it was presented. My learning pod opted to use Google Slides as the vessel for our information. We chose this because anyone can access it if they are able to connect to the internet via a mobile device, tablet/iPad or some type of computer (i.e., laptop or desktop). Google Slides is user friendly and easy for a range of abilities to follow. Google Slides also allowed us to embed different forms of multimedia. For example, we used interactive YouTube videos to demonstrate the types of activities we want our learners to utilize. We also added a resource that can either be downloaded as a PDF and filled out by hand or downloaded as a Word Document with the option to be emailed back to us for feedback and proof of learning. We gave options so our learners are comfortable and more likely to use our resource.
Alongside, Google Slides highlighting our use of multimedia, it provided us opportunities to reach individuals with dyslexia and english language learners. We imbed audio clips summarizing the content on the slides for help those that may struggle with written text. It was a conscious decision to not have them autopay as having written text, graphics and audio may be overwhelming for some learners. A summary of the text is also available in the speaker notes. This was included so that learners could easily input the text into a translative and have it in their native language. Also, we added a table of contents, with links to the corresponding slides, so our learners can easily navigate our resource.
Overall, our goal is to reach as many learners as possible. They can explore the content and multimedia resources at their own pace and from a comfortable environment. We hope that these factors will allow the learner to feel confident and familiar with the resource to then bring into a classroom setting. Thus, reaching more learners.
